Feedback

I just finished 1.5 weeks on MICU and 1.5 weeks on Heme/Onc. It's been a lot...I think I've had a total of 10 different attendings each with different styles and accompanying steep, painful learning curves. I think I'm particularly hard on myself, and when I get corrected or forget to state a lab result that I didn't think was pertinent, I beat myself up for it. Then I go to High Intensity Training (60 minutes of sprints, kettlebells, barbells, and squats!) and feel much better.

I was paired with a classmate, C, for Heme/Onc. We've been a good team--we watch out for each other, page each other when we need to report somewhere (okay maybe I'm the one doing the paging), and generally are upbeat and sharp individuals. I think that last part helps. M3 tip: act interested even if you're not. Be peppy. Ask questions. Speak up.

Most attendings have given us good feedback with the phrase, "I can't believe you're only M3s! I've worked with a looooot of M3s in my day, and you are doing an EXCELLENT job."

We sort of just look at each other and shrug. I hope they write us nice evals. They are 50% of our grade.
