First week back: Movies, movies, movies

Hello from Iowa, where it is currently 9 degrees outside with highs of 12 degrees today. I'm writing to you from the warmth of my apartment, having skipped all classes today in favor of watching them online.


This week has been fun, which I never thought I'd say in med school. Mostly because our coursework has been light, and this upcoming Monday is a holiday!


Last Monday, my friends kidnapped me and took me to an Italian restaurant, where the rest of the secret surprise party was waiting. We also played Cards Against Humanity. It was a fun way to spend our first night back to school. I feel very blessed to celebrate my birthday in multiple places with multiple groups of friends! Tuesday was a long day for me, since I had class from morning to a small group session at night. However, Tuesday is also $5 movie nights at the theater, and so we went to watch the Hobbit. Wednesday was a friend's birthday, and so I made these for him:

We surprised him and also watched Man of Steel at school. Yesterday, we watched Despicable Me and had Chik-fil-A (we have one about two miles from my place!!). It's been a week full of movies and minimal studying, as you can see. I know that things will pick up soon, but I'm enjoying the new semester as much as I can for now.
