I made it! It is splendid to be home with my loving parents, backyard cats, wonderful friends, and warm weather! These three and a half months have been some of the longest of my life, and certainly the longest I'd ever been away from home.
I'm recuperating daily, but have a few more checkups before I can return to Iowa with (hopefully) a clean bill of health. It's been a rough few weeks, and I'm excited to be a fully functioning being again, without my "sick station"--purell, tissue box, hot water, cough drops--following me everywhere.
My dad gave me a freshly cut rose from the garden this morning, and my mom cooked me my favorite dishes. I've been seeing friends in this beautiful (but was it always this congested and trafficky?) city and it is wonderful. If I don't catch you this time, I'll be home in another month for winter break!
