What do s'mores cupcakes have to do with biology?

Nothing, unless I'm your Bio 1AL UGSI. In that case, I also feel sorry for you.

I've been thinking for the last few weeks about what treat to bring my class for their last day. What better way to end an adrenaline-charged, 28-station rotation, timed lab practical than refined white sugar?

I had considered making cookies or brownies. Too simple. I thought about cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and decorated with something funny like "I Love Bio" or a little chocolate rat, or kidney. Too complicated (and perhaps also not appetizing).

So the happy medium is s'mores cupcakes--inspired by Sandy Tran, who was inspired by Martha Stewart, from which all inspirations start, I guess.

When I take shortcuts in life, they often involve boxed cake mix and pre-made things. Oh well.

Did you know that Sam's Market on Telegraph sells marshmallow creme cheaper than Safeway? Nor did I until 5:30PM today. Also, those brown cupcake liners are made from recycled paper, from Berkeley Bowl--Olivia's recommendation. (Yes, I did browse through your archive to find this one entry) :)

They're cute little things. No broiler fiascoes for me today.

Ignore that really brown one in the middle. 28 cupcakes for my 28 kids. Er, students, I mean.

On that note, I am dreading tomorrow's lab practical exam as much as the students, because I am waking up at 5:30AM to be at VLSB by 6:15AM. I only wake up this early for meteor showers, road trips, good-bye hugs, and Disneyland. But okay, Biology 1AL lab set-up is almost up there in that list.

If you believed that last line, please do what I am doing and go to bed right now.
